Expanding Our Regions – See what one of our amazing regional managers had to say about Fusion growing in the Southern regions!
Hi, I am Fiona, a Regional Manager at Fusion Fostering covering the South East of England. I started working at Fusion Fostering in April of last year and it was one of the best career decisions I have made. Fusion is a highly ethical fostering agency, driven from the top by compassion and deep desire to make a positive impact on the lives of all those who come into contact with us; this is of course most importantly our young people, but also our foster carers and our staff team. Fusion cares about recruiting the right people, those who share our values of respect, humility, openness and above all KINDNESS to all. I have experience of working for other fostering agencies and I feel blessed to work for Fusion, and if you have been thinking about fostering, I want you to make the same leap of faith that I did when I made that first call to Billie – I promise you, you will not regret it !
The South East is the newest of Fusion’s geographical regions, and it was still very small when I started. It has in the last year tripled in size and we are now in the process of becoming Registered with Ofsted as a separate Region. Though we have been growing fast in the South East, we still need more foster carers in the area, so please pick up the phone and give me a call and judge for yourself, and if you feel we are right for you and I feel you are right for us, I promise you will not look back. I will commit to making your journey the most positive it can possibly be. You will feel safe and held , understood and valued, allowed to make mistakes and get it wrong (we all do) and we will be there to pick you right back up when you have a bad day; you will know we are not judging you. You will cry, but you will also laugh and we will be there to cry and laugh with you. If you are not sure that you are ‘good enough’, let us prove you wrong. If you are worried about things that may prevent you from fostering, just talk it through with us, you may be pleasantly surprised.
A couple of things to tell you about the way we work which differs from other fostering agencies. Our Social Workers are not allowed to support more than 10 carers maximum (some only have 5). This is because we want them to have time enough to focus on their foster carers (you!) and their young people, and to be there when you need them through the tough times as well as the good. We only employ the most committed, skilled, empathic and compassionate Social Workers (our placements are successful as a consequence of this), and as such they are paid well. Our foster carers are also well paid and they have access to additional specialist services and support that we provide (and of course training). The Social Workers in the South East work as a team, supporting each other, with high energy and enthusiasm, nothing is too much trouble for their young people or foster carers (or for each other). They have excelled during lockdown finding all sorts of creative ways to support their carers and young people during this difficult time. I am proud of my team and I know that if you join us you will not be disappointed.
I would love to hear from you and tell you more about us and learn more about you over a cuppa (even if it’s virtual), so take the next step and give me a call.
