There may be many reasons that you wish to transfer foster agency. Perhaps you are moving house, are unhappy with the levels of support or training you receive, or are looking for a new challenge? Being happy with your agency is a very important factor and happy foster parents make for happy children! If you aren’t 100% satisfied with your current experience as a foster carer, consider switching to Fusion Fostering!
We are completely dedicated to the safeguarding of children and young people. We see our foster carers as an invaluable part of this duty and we value the work that they do. We do all we can to support and empower our carers to allow them to be the absolute best carers they can be. We promise to provide full training with 24/7 support and regular opportunities to grow, develop and learn. We support you 100% and we treat you as a valuable and skilled member of the Fusion Fostering team. Caring for your future and that of the children we support.
The ‘Transfer of Carers Protocol’ by our partner The Fostering Network governs how fostering services manage the movement of carers between agencies. The guidelines are intended to ensure the ongoing care and safety of children and young people during the process of switching as well as empowering carers.
The process differs slightly depending on whether you currently have a child in your care at the time you decide to switch.
The first step is to contact us and make your intentions to move agency known. We can discuss the children currently placed with you and what you can expect from Fusion Fostering. You will also need to contact your existing agency as well as the placing Local Authority of the child placed in your care and inform them of your decision of intent to transfer agency. Once this has been formalised, Fusion will organise a transfer of protocol meeting with all of the relevant parties. This will include you.
Once a formal decision has been made about the child transferring over with you to Fusion, you can begin the application process with us. Although it consists of the same steps as your initial application to foster, it is much more streamlined and will hopefully take less time!
You will need to give notice of intent to your current foresting agency to transfer to Fusion as soon as you have decided to move. You will be able to apply to foster with us straight away. We will go through the normal process of a home visit to get to know you and we will ask for a reference from your current agency. You will be supported throughout the entire transition process by one of our social workers.
If you’re curious about how we work, want to know some more information or would simply like a chat with one of our advisors, get in contact with Fusion Fostering today. Call 03301 239355 or fill out our online contact form to begin your journey with Fusion.
